Blair has advised 1,600 British troops should be home from Iraq in a couple of months, with hopefully lower levels of involvement in the near future. At last politicians are beginning to realize that Iraq cannot be stabilized – a thing some people understood before the war began.
Iraq never was a viable country and could only be held together by dictatorship. The future of Iraq can only be further dictatorship or break up. The sooner this is realized the sooner the bloodshed can finally be over.
The entire Iraq operation has been a political fiasco, the only saving grace the overall bravery of the majority of the troops out there. It is just a shame that these political pawns can rarely find a political leadership that deserves them.
