So npower have hiked energy prices again. Gas goes up 17% and electric 12%, squeezing many in the UK dry. And it won’t be long before all the power companies go the same way. Oh boy, they really are treating us as fools.
Privatization was supposed to be about competition and competitive prices. Both were lies. Only an idiot could now believe there is competition for the consumer in all this. It is beginning to look like wholesale theft from the British public.
As for competitive prices, this was only done as a sweetener to ease the transition, and achieved by gross under-investment, for which we are now paying the price, over and over again.
Add incompetent management, and the obvious ‘profit before service mentality’, and electric companies have, indeed, become shocking. But nothing is more shocking than the British complacency that, once again, will accept it.

I write a lot about crime, but my posts on the subject haven’t really taken off. I’m not sure why this is. Maybe it is because I speak a load of rubbish, or may it’s because people don’t really want to read about it any more ...

Hi Alvin,
Nice to hear form you. I've been busy of late - must get round to your blog soon.
I've lived through several recessions in the UK. You get to learn how they smell, even before they happen.
Conning us to keep the system going through credit may work a while longer, but it can't work forever. And hikes like this have that smell about them.
