Uganda, Rwanda and the Congo have agreed a ten year plan to share information on poachers and mountain gorillas. Hopefully this will be more than simple politics, leading to real co-operation. But a thought.
Why has it taken so long to agree such a simple thing? The gorillas have been at risk for decades, with high profile films, books and documentaries. Few people, in the west, will not have heard of them.
Still, agreement is made. Maybe, if there is a will, finally, to do something here, it will begin wider African inter-governmental discussions, which could lead to improvements in other areas of this continent.
Wouldn’t it be ironic if it was finally the animals that tamed the wild politics.
