So, the cost of Iraq and Afghanistan over the last year to the UK has been over £3billion. This is way up on the budget. The cost of war is spiraling, and I personally find this figure quite disgusting.
Not that I think it shouldn’t have been spent. Rather, it should have been spent, over a longer period, years ago. For the major reason for the overspend is to purchase vehicles and equipment the army knew they needed and the government knew they wouldn’t get.
Yes, the cost of war is very cheap if you have nothing but contempt for the military planners, and the soldiers who have to go out there ill-equipped. Indeed, it is arguable that the only reason the equipment is now bought is that the media brought it to our attention.
This is no way to fight a war; and no way to treat our service personnel.
